“New Technology in Design Creation
I found many new design creations in the HK International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) every year. Many companies are proud of their new technology and their products are well-designed and trendy. Over 2,700 exhibitors are featured in the fair this year, their products and designs are very eye-catching.
The new and innovative designs include light bulbs with words and signs inside. There are also many exhibitors showcasing colorful bulbs and bulbs with half-cut glass. Some products use graphic acrylic instead of filament.
There are 2 good examples showcasing some new trends. For example, Tangla Lighting (Booth 1B-D07) displays a "Move Me" Bulb which shade or light can be moved using the magnet freely. Liquideleds Lighting Corp (Booth 5C-D21) uses the new technique to cut the lower part of the glass to create an innovative lamp called “Jellyfish”. I enjoy watching the new technology creation and market trend in the fair.” |

“My first day at the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) 2019 has been quite exciting. In spite of the global slowdown, many established companies in the lighting industry seem to show confidence in the fair. This is reflected in the eye-catching products at display.
One of the companies that got my attention was a Hong Kong based Simbulb Lighting Design Company (Booth: 1E-E17). The company prides itself with having introduced the first ever spiral-shaped filament LED light bulb. At this fair, it introduces a next level of this technology by launching the spiral-shaped filament LED bulb which gives out a ‘continuous and an equally distributed’ light. This is a step above its earlier products which gave out ‘shadows’ of the spiral filament along with the light it emitted.” |

 “In 2000, TCL started to produce lighting products under our own brand and for OEM and ODM customers, with our annual sales turnover hitting RMB800 million. We have been participating in the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) for the sixth consecutive year. As a lot of infrastructure projects are underway in the Belt & Road countries, we are showcasing commercial lighting products for use in hotels and clubhouses at this year’s fair.  “This is our third time participating in the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition). We are showcasing luminous stones and anion stones which are very unique in the market. Our partner factory has selected special fluorescent materials as decorative embellishments to produce reconstituted stone products with luminous effects, which can be used in parks, streets, entertainment venues and clubhouses. Our anion stones can generate a large amount of negative oxygen ions and ionise when the surrounding air temperature and pressure change and when they come in contact with water molecules. The average negative ion released by the stones can reach 1,500-2,000/cm2 and remain stable for a long time. Our anion stones are good for use in hospitals, elderly centres and children centres. Many buyers from the Americas, Asia, Australia and the Middle East are interested in our luminous stones and anion stones because this kind of building materials is very unique and can meet their needs. Some of them will visit our factories after the fair.”

 “Established in 1989, ES-System is the largest professional lighting company in Poland and it was listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2007. We design and produce indoor lighting, outdoor lighting, professional/emergency lighting, industrial lighting and lighting controls for different projects in more than 100 countries and regions. This is our second time visiting the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition). We found a very good supplier from Hong Kong through last year’s fair and so far, we have bought US$1 million worth of lighting products from this supplier. At this year’s fair, we have identified three potential suppliers from Hong Kong which provide outdoor lighting, drivers and control systems. We plan to buy at least US$250,000 worth of products from each new supplier for the first year. Although I have seen TV news about the protests in Hong Kong, it does not affect my decision to come to Hong Kong. I still feel safe in Hong Kong.”

 “Our company handles different lighting projects in Vietnam such as hotels and resorts. We import outdoor and commercial lighting products from Germany, Italy, Mainland China and Taiwan. I have visited the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) for several times. At this year’s fair, I am looking for commercial lighting and outdoor lighting mainly for hotel projects. Up till now, I have found more than 10 potential suppliers from Hong Kong and Mainland China for the supply of commercial lighting, outdoor lighting, track lights, down lights and LED panels. We need to buy US$200,000-300,000 worth of lighting products for each hotel project. We plan to buy at least $50,000 worth of products from each new supplier. As a business traveller, I am not worried about my safety in Hong Kong because the Police or the protestors will do no harm to foreigners.”

Our products range from street lights to garden lights, LED projector lights and wall washer lights. We have participated in a number of major projects. This is our fourth-year participating in the Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo to promote our products. One of the key highlights for this year is our versatile Elf lighting series catering to the needs of different installations and applications. We have met with many new buyers again, including those from France, Denmark, Norway, Malaysia, Vietnam, Uruguay and Argentina. The demonstrations in Hong Kong had caused some worries before arrival. But we focus our attention on exhibition and meeting with buyers here. We have seen nothing unusual so far.”

 “Established in 2009, Newgarden is a designer and manufacturer of outdoor lighting and outdoor furniture in Spain. We provide various lighting products for residential projects mainly in Europe, USA and Mexico. This is our third-year visit to Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo to source new items. We’ve found three new suppliers from Mainland China for different products. Negotiation is underway with one of the new suppliers from Ningbo for solar lighting system. The order will involve about 5,000 pieces of solar lighting system a year. This Expo is a perfect place to meet new and existing suppliers, keep us abreast of the trends and explore business opportunities. We can find many professional suppliers and everything has been well organised. We feel completely safe being here. The city is a good place to do business and we will definitely visit the Expo again next year.”

 “Our company is one of the biggest importers of lighting products in Vietnam. With a business history of 10 years, we supply various outdoor lighting products for government projects such as roads and highways. At present, we source lighting products mainly from local suppliers in Vietnam. I am visiting Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo for the first time to explore new sourcing opportunities. The results are very encouraging. I have already found 10 new suppliers from Mainland China, Thailand and Singapore for different items including street lights and garden lights. We normally source three to five containers of lighting products each from suppliers. The Expo is a good exhibition. I would like to visit the fair again. The protests in Hong Kong were not a cause of concern to me. I am here to do business. I think everything is normal and it’s been business as usual here.”
