“The Hangzhou Government Pavilion highlights Hangzhou’s City Brain platform at the ICT Expo this year. Hangzhou was the first city in Mainland China to pursue City Brain that was successfully launched in 2017. This was followed by the introduction of Hangzhou City Brain 2.0 in 2018 and then a comprehensive version that uses big data, clouding and AI for multiple applications in city management, traffic control, healthcare and tourism. We can collect and share different data on this open platform. By connecting data together, we can make better decision and explore new applications. City Brain creates a lot of new business models that will bring greater convenience to Hangzhou citizens and enhance the city’s development. It’s great for Hangzhou to showcase City Brain at the Expo and explore business opportunities with industry players from all over the world. We've lined up various meetings and exchanges with overseas industry representatives including visitors from Saudi Arabia. We are positive about the results of our showcase that will enable everyone to gain a good understanding of our City Brain platform.”

“The ‘So French So Innovative’ Pavilion is showcasing the best-in-class innovations and technologies from French companies based in Hong Kong. More than 30 companies including French international firms and startups have gathered at the pavilion in this year’s ICT Expo with diverse technologies and smart city solutions on offer. This is a good showcase of French companies’ successful digital transformation and how we integrate flexible solutions into business operation. Hong Kong is a nice platform to expand presence in Asia and go into the Mainland China market. Our participating companies are also keen to explore the opportunities presented by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through this Expo. I can feel so much excitement about smart city solutions here. The Expo is a great event for us to meet with all sorts of professionals behind the smart ideas. “Airport Authority Hong Kong strives to provide seamless travel and service through technology R&D and deployment for higher operating efficiency and better passenger experience at the Hong Kong International Airport. The HKTDC International ICT Expo is really an international platform for us to showcase new IT initiatives and explore collaboration with aviation industry representatives as well as players in other sectors. Besides our multifunctional robots, a major highlight of this year’s showcase is a three-dimensional digital twin model shown in the form of an immersive cave designed to monitor airport operation, detect abnormal conditions and allocate resources more effectively. Digital twin also allows for design concepts of new projects being visualised in early planning stage to gauge feedback from various stakeholders for better implementation. Through the Expo, we are able to enhance people’s understanding of our technology initiatives and engage more suppliers, technology researchers and different industries for further collaboration. The Expo attracts a number of visitors and exhibitors from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. We can take advantage of this platform to network and establish more connections to explore opportunities in the Greater Bay Area.”

“Headquartered in Shanghai, Xiao-i is a leading AI technology company with strengths in R&D and industrialisation of cognitive AI. We leverage on our AI technologies in natural language processing to provide one-stop solutions for corporate clients, government divisions as well as medical and industrial sectors. This is our debut at the ICT Expo to showcase the applications of our technologies in smart city solutions. The response has been very positive. We’ve met with many visitors and industry representatives. There are many potential customers and partners including companies from Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia. This is an excellent exhibition. We’ve raised our profile making more people aware of our brand and sophisticated AI solutions. The Expo has a strong mix of different exhibitors from large companies to startups. The Smart City zone has created a lot of excitement. We’ve also established contacts with some companies from Mainland China within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, thus opening up new opportunities for developing business in the area. We are very pleased with the results and will definitely participate in the Expo again.”

“Xiamen Information Group is showcasing our smart transport & smart parking solutions as well as identity check application backed by face recognition technology at the Xiamen Pavilion of International ICT Expo this year. We also highlight the IT strengths of Xiamen Software Park where over 4,400 enterprises are operating with some 100,000 practitioners in the IT industry. The feedback has been excellent as so many industry representatives approached us to explore opportunities. Among them are government units and commercial businesses from Indonesia, Thailand and India. They are especially interested in our smart transport solutions. We also take advantage of this trade fair to meet with Hong Kong and international companies to explore cooperation in the development of ICT businesses in Xiamen. The Expo is an international trade event providing a good opportunity to grow business internationally. This is a great start and we look forward to developing business with the new contacts we made here.”

“Headquartered in Yangon, Xing International Group is the holding company with businesses in several areas, including trading, property and real estate development, construction services, technology and so on. Since our group works with government agencies, I have come here for the first time to look for intelligent lighting control applications and construction-related systems for smart cities alongside smart childcare and fintech solutions. At the ICT Expo, I am glad to find a variety of technology companies from different countries and regions exhibiting here. Nine meetings with exhibitors were arranged on the inaugural day through the HKTDC's business matching service. All of the them are my target suppliers. For example, a Hong Kong company provides the cloud solution service, a company from Xiamen offers the security applications while another company from Hangzhou has implemented the smart traffic system for Hangzhou government. I am greatly satisfied with the onsite business matching service and will definitely come back next year. The ICT Expo is the largest of its kind in Asia and it is one of the most impressive technology events I have ever attended. Hopefully, Myanmar's technology firms can be lined up to participate in the next edition of the expo.”
Htin Lin Aung, Director, Xing IFG Asia, Myanmar |
“Foshan Construction Development Investment of Urban Construction is a construction contractor working for municipal governments. Being a young enterprise, we look to large-size acquisition and investment opportunities in property development and technological innovation projects to grow our business. Our company is based in Foshan which is best known for its manufacturing muscle, especially in the home appliance segment. As part of the Greater Bay Area, our city can capitalize on Hong Kong's strength as an open market for innovation, financing and investment, and as the springboard to Asia and the rest of the world. At the ICT Expo, we would like to take this opportunity to seek potential partners and investees. As for investment, it would be great to start from collaboration. Since we are interested in C-Round and Pre-IPO investment, more established young companies are preferred. If some right companies with amazing technologies like smart building, smart home, AI+IoT and 5G solutions are identified, we will go further to explore their business model and path to profitability. Those companies with a proven track record make the list for prospective investment. So far, I have spotted that a scenario-based system for surveillance and a smart mobility solution for traffic management from some Hangzhou suppliers at the fairground for potential partnership. These applications are best fit for the development of smart cities which is the focus of municipal government. I also come to know that there are some startup pitching sessions at the Expo, and I will set my schedule to attend. The event is also a good platform to meet startups.”

“Established in 2014, our company offers a wide range of high-quality and innovative household appliances under our Bourgini brand. All of our products are designed in the Netherlands and produced in our factory in Mainland China. We have been exhibiting at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair twice a year since 2015 to promote our brand and introduce our latest products to both new and existing buyers. We have established partnerships with distributors from Europe and Asian markets such as Hong Kong, Korea and Mainland China through the fair. At this year’s Spring Electronics Fair, we are showcasing our innovative products such as Kitchen Chef Pro in different eye-catching colours, floral water kettles, One4All cooking units and grand citrus juicers. We had a busy day on the first day of the fair and have found potential distributors from Japan, Italy and Spain.”

“I started to develop robots since 2011 during my PhD. I set up my own company called Open Choice in 2014 which has been renamed as Dogugonggan in 2017. My company has successfully developed an autonomous security robot called D-Bot which is making its debut at the Spring Electronics Fair. D-Bot is a tele-operating security robot which is based on fully autonomous technology. The robot is equipped with a 360-degree camera, 16-channel LIDAR and intelligent sensors to provide environmental information to users. We can customise D-Bot for different environments. As the Spring Electronics Fair is an important trade fair of its kind in the world, it provides an excellent platform for us to launch D-Bot and to develop the global market especially the Asian market. Buyers from Europe have expressed their strong interest in D-Bot.”

“Established in 1974, our company produces automotive parts such as lamps, plastic injection parts and front-end modules in Korea for our parent company – Hyundai Motors. I am visiting the Spring Electronics Fair for the first time to look for automotive electronics. I have found three to four potential suppliers of air purifiers, wireless chargers, smart phone chargers, and smart watches with GPS and car key functions. If the supplier is suitable, we’ll buy 50,000 pieces per item every year. The Spring Electronics Fair is an important fair of its kind in the world and I am surprised to see so many suppliers, buyers and products here.”

“Our company is a wholesaler and retailer of personal audio products which has eight stores in Poland. This is my first time visiting the Spring Electronics Fair, but I visited the Autumn Electronics Fair few years ago. The fair provides a good opportunity for me to see the latest market trends and to look for new products and new technologies. At this year’s Spring Electronics Fair, I have found two potential suppliers of true wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation. I am also interested in bringing a new audio brand from Mainland China to the Polish market. The Chinese brand offers nicely-designed headphones, earphones and Bluetooth speakers. I’ll continue my negotiations with this brand after the fair. I have also identified a potential supplier of hi-fi earphones and will buy samples for further testing. The Startup Zone is worth visiting because it is the right place for me to find interesting solutions and see new trends.”

“Our company launched the Advanced Driver Assistant System and the Driver Monitoring System under the Mobility Safety Solution (Series 2) six months ago. We are glad that these two systems have won the award at the Media Pitch Day. The event provides a good opportunity for us to increase our exposure and promote our new systems. The Advanced Driver Assistant System provides an instant alert to prevent collision while the Driver Monitoring System provides an instant alert to drivers to prevent fatigue driving. We think that we won the award because our systems are very practical and suitable for use in every market. We’ll install 100 units for the two major bus companies in Hong Kong. We are looking for new buyers by participating in the Startup Zone at the Spring Electronics Fair. The Startup Zone provides an economical way for us to reach out to international buyers. We have met with new buyers from Brazil, Europe, India and the US who are very interested in our Mobility Safety Solution. Since the installation and maintenance are quite technical, we’ll have detailed discussions with them after the fair.”
