“The Smart Government Pavilion is presenting our smart city initiatives and innovations to industry professionals at the ICT Expo. Through the platform, we are showcasing what the HKSAR Government is doing on various fronts like eID, smart lampposts, big data projects, open data and our city dashboard. This helps everyone understand the government initiatives to improve people’s quality of living through innovation and technology. The HKSAR Government published the first Smart City Blueprint in December 2017 to set out our smart city initiatives. There are over 70 initiatives under six major areas - Smart Mobility, Smart Living, Smart Environment, Smart People, Smart Government and Smart Economy. We hope to make use of these initiatives to improve our citizens’ quality of living, develop Hong Kong into a smart city and enhance our economic development. We are working very hard on these initiatives and three of them are infrastructure initiatives including electronic identity (eID). All Hong Kong citizens will get an eID that will enable their daily transactions easily and securely with the government and the commercial sector. The Expo provides an excellent opportunity for everybody to network, exchange ideas and do business.”
Victor Lam, JP, Government Chief Information Officer, Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (Booth: 3F-G04)

“Microsoft is promoting our latest smart city and smart building initiatives as well as IoTs at the ICT Expo this year. Four solution partners have joined us to showcase at our pavilion offering smart government solutions, smart campus controls, IoT sensors and chatbot application. One of our special highlights is our Land Cover Mapping API that integrates big data analysis with AI and cloud computing to monitor land use changes and streamline planning efficiently. We’ve attracted a lot of interest from local and overseas visitors including delegations from the Middle East, Brazil and the Guangdong Province of Mainland China. The strong presence of HKSAR government divisions at the Expo also presents good opportunities for business development. With a smart city theme, the Expo goes in the right direction offering a great place to exchange ideas and grow business. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area presents tremendous opportunities especially in AI, smart city and smart building applications. We hope to establish more business contacts here to pursue all kinds of new opportunities lying ahead.”

“NEC Hong Kong is participating in the ICT Expo for the second consecutive year to promote our latest smart city solutions. Among the highlights are our smart transport solutions for safety enhancement and video analytics differentiating age and gender effectively. Also at the centre stage is our Bio-IDiom that enables instant authentication using face, fingerprint, iris, voice and more to identify people accurately. With multiple biometric authentication technologies, our solutions enable better efficiency and bring about more robust security. The feedback has been very encouraging again. We’ve met with many visitors from different places such as Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Thailand. Many overseas industry professionals are visiting the Expo to learn about the smart city development in Hong Kong. We secured new clients through the Expo last year. We are positive about the results this year. We see a lot of growth opportunities in relation to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and this Expo offers a chance to explore collaboration with different industry players.”

“Established in 1976, Becamex IDC Corp. is a Vietnam-listed company specialising in the field of investment and development of industrial, residential, urban and transportation infrastructure. We are the developer of Binh Duong Smart Region, a smart city project in Binh Duong Province. This has been my fourth visit to Hong Kong. In my last three trips, I came here to explore the global business opportunities through the HKTDC Belt and Road Summit. This year, I am attracted to the theme of "Smart City. Smart Living" highlighted by the ICT Expo. That's why I come here with my colleagues. As for the ecosystem development of our smart city, three key areas are in focus, including the intelligent transportation, skill upgrade and development of science parks. Through the HKTDC's business matching service at the ICT Expo, our team introduce the ecosystem of Binh Duong Smart Region to exhibitors. From a long list of exhibitors, we are surprised that quite many companies come from Hangzhou. In the first morning session, we have already met with three exhibitors from Hangzhou. One of them is the solution provider of construction systems. More meetings with suppliers from other cities and regions are arranged. In fact, we are eager to work with any suppliers from around the globe who can align with our development. All in all, the host is doing a good job in lining up businesses while the event is the platform that facilitates business connection.”
Vo Son Dien (Steve Vo), Advisory & Marketing Director, Member of Operational Committee, Becamex IDC Corp., Vietnam

“EMS Paramitra is an information technology consulting firm specialising in the implementation of IT projects and enterprise management systems for the mining, utility and oil & gas industries. We have been partnering with some international technology developers from Switzerland, India and the US to provide our clients with essential enterprise solutions. Since our company plays the role of liaison and first-level support, I come to visit the ICT Expo with my clients again to select appropriate solutions for them. This year, it was my first time to join the morning tour on the inaugural day, which I spotted a potential partner from Hangzhou. The company is a solution provider of intelligent security and surveillance systems and smart lighting control systems, which fit the needs of our clients, as most companies we serve run different mining businesses. After the tour, I returned to Hangzhou Pavilion immediately to further talk to the exhibitor who invited me to visit its headquarters in Hangzhou after the expo. That exhibitor has also developed a range of smart city solutions and has already kick-started projects in Indonesia under the Belt and Road Initiative. It is likely that our company can become its local partner in Indonesia. The HKTDC morning tour is helpful, I can take the shortcut to identify right suppliers in such a big venue. After that, I scrolled around the fairground where I found a Canadian company offering chat-bot apps for the banking sector. Its solution looks interesting to me.”

“After making a successful launch of our VisualSonic voice-controlled wall-mounted music device in the Startup Zone at last year’s Spring Electronics Fair, we have returned to this year’s fair to announce the launch of our new model – voice-controlled and AR-enabled wall-mounted music device. We have found new distributors from Italy, Japan and the US through last year’s fair. We have moved our booth to the Tech Hall this year because we are no longer a startup. Integrating AR into digital home décor, our new model has attracted a lot of international buyers who are looking for new lifestyle products. We have established connections with many buyers from different countries and regions including Canada, France, Japan, India, Indonesia, Mainland China, the Philippines, Poland, Taiwan, Turkey and the US. We are very happy with the results so far.”

“With rich experience in e-commerce, I launched Nasket in Thailand in early 2018 and expanded into the Philippine market this year. Patented in Japan and Mainland China, Nasket is a device that allows consumers to stay at home and order everything that they need. By using our device, consumers can order groceries and food delivery and book home services and doctor appointments. For example, consumers can simply scan the bar code on food packaging and order the food from supermarkets. Our device can also serve as a video door bell. This is my first time exhibiting in the Startup Zone at the Spring Electronics Fair. The fair attracts a lot of overseas buyers, so I am keen to expand into new markets through the fair. I have met with new buyers from Sri Lanka, Switzerland and the US who are very interested in Nasket and negotiations with them will continue after the fair.”

“In business for four years, our company sells video security systems, video systems and alarm systems to shopping malls and retailers in Kazakhstan. This is our first time visiting the Spring Electronics Fair. We are looking for new technologies related to security systems. Through the HKTDC’s business matching service, we have found three to four potential suppliers of security systems and video alarm systems. We are going to buy at least 50 units through the fair to meet the needs of our customers. It’s a fantastic experience because we can meet with so many suppliers at the fair and we have found many useful products. As our customers need to replace their existing security systems once in every five years, we are constantly looking for new technologies to meet their requirements. We’ll visit the fair again next year.”

“Saruk Digital Solutions is a consumer electronics retailer in Kenya, selling laptops, TVs, computers, cameras, mobile phones and mobile accessories. Currently, I buy consumer electronics through wholesalers in the United Arab Emirates. I am visiting the Spring Electronics Fair for the first time because I want to source directly from suppliers. Up till now, I have found five potential suppliers of mobile accessories, drones and gaming accessories. I will buy 500-1,000 pieces from each new supplier. I am happy to be here because the fair brings together a lot of suppliers who can provide competitive prices and good deigns. I also attended the Tech Trends Symposium which was very informative.”
