Hear What Buyers Say

“My company specialises in the supply of rare gemstones and fine jewellery. I’ve already identified 15 suppliers for various gemstones such as ruby, sapphire, tourmaline and opal. I am now looking around and will meet another 20 exhibitors today. Further negotiation will be underway and I expect to conclude deals in the next couple of days. So far, I plan to spend about US$200,000 for different gemstones but the amount may be more in the end. The HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show offers a great assortment of products. We can find everything we need here. HKTDC is very helpful with good support. The business matching service works really well to facilitate business development.”
Joseph M Menzie, President, Joseph M Menzie Inc., USA

“Sule Mogok is a jewellery company with a history of over 60 years. We design our jewellery collections and operate three shops in Yangon, the capital city of Myanmar. We are visiting the HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show this year to find mainly semi-precious stones such as coral, opal and amber. Myanmar produces quality rubies and sapphires so we source them locally. Shortly after the opening of the fair, we’ve already bought some corals and opals from a Hong Kong exhibitor and an Australian supplier. We will meet more suppliers through the business matching service this afternoon and expect to purchase more quality stones. This is a large-scaled exhibition offering a diversity of loose stones to choose from. We are happy with everything here and will visit the fair again next year.”

“In business since 1975, Wing Hang offers a wide range of high-quality diamonds, South Sea pearls and jewellery products for customers worldwide. We are taking advantage of this trade fair to promote our premium South Sea pearls in particular. We take pride in supplying a diversity of South Sea pearls in natural colour and lustre including gold-coloured pearls, black pearls and white pearls. The HKDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show is always a good platform to meet customers and explore new business opportunities. The fair attracts buyers from all over the world. These professional buyers understand the market very well and they are quick to source loose pearls as well as top-graded pearl strands from us. They always snap up what they like on the spot. Besides existing customers, we’ve met with some new buyers from Asia on the first day of the Show. Buyers from the mainland China look keener to make purchase amidst growing signs of a Sino-US trade settlement. HKTDC has done a great job in promoting the fair. We’ve achieved successful exhibition results over the years. We secure new buyers here every year. This is also a perfect place to exchange market information and ideas with customers to drive business growth.”
Yvonne Pong, Director, Wing Hang South Sea Pearl Company Limited, Hong Kong (Booth No.: AWE 1-H26)

“Founded in 1985, Opal Pacific is an Australian opal stone dealer and jewellery manufacturer. We provide a wide range of loose cut opal and rough opal to choose from. This is our fifth-year participation in Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show to promote business. Again, we are showcasing a lot of lovely opal stones. Special highlights include a rare opal cast on wood fossil, a black opal shell and a 24.41-carat pear-shaped opal with striking colours. We witnessed encouraging sales on the first day of exhibition as the positive progress of Sino-US trade talks has obviously improved overall sentiment and boosted buyers’ confidence. Buyers are coming from different places including Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Chinese mainland, India and Australia. This fair is very important for our business development. It attracts a lot of repeated customers every year, enabling us to grow business together. Sales at this year’s exhibition is anticipated to exceed last year.”
Nick King, Director, Opal Pacific Limited, New Zealand (Booth No.: AWE 8-G28)
