“Our company is the sole agent of Garmin smart watches in Hong Kong and Macau. This is the third year that we are promoting Garmin smart watches at Salon de TE. We are looking for new customers especially from emerging markets. So far, we have met with buyers from Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia. At least 10 buyers from these emerging markets are likely to buy our smart watches. Next-gen consumers tend to be more receptive to multifunctional smart watches than mature people and more willing to spend money on this kind of watches. It will take a longer time for mature people to accept smart watches, so it is important for retailers to enhance customer experience. The HKTDC has also done a good job in promoting smart watches. In particular, we like the watch parades and pre-fair press conference which provided an excellent opportunity for us to increase our brand exposure..”

“Established in 2015, our company specialises in the design and production of smart watches, with the strong support from our parent company which is a well-established watch parts manufacturer on the Chinese mainland. We think that the demand for smart watches from traditional watch buyers is yet to be unleashed. That’s why we are showcasing our latest models at the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair for the first time, hoping that traditional watch buyers can know more about our smart watches. We find that buyers are more interested in our smart watches that come with simple functions like step counter and incoming message or call alert although we also offer complicated models. Two buyers from India and the US will place order soon. As our smart watches have a high price-performance ratio, we see a lot of potential for our products in the international market.”

“My company is a distributor and e-tailer of six international watch brands and one own brand in Indonesia. I started to visit the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair 20 years ago. I am here looking for new suppliers of Muslim watches and new items while meeting with the brand owners who are my existing business partners. Indonesia has a huge market for Muslim watches because Muslims represent 90 per cent of our country’s total population. Up till now, I have placed an order for 1,000 pieces of Muslim watches. I have also bought some samples of couple watches and Chinese-made tourbillon watches and will consider adding these new items to my product portfolio. I am also interested in two new brands originated from the Netherlands and Italy which are very unique in the Indonesian market.”

“Central Marketing Group, a trading company under Central Group, is an exclusive distributor of various international brands for watches, shoes, apparel and skincare products in Thailand. We have come here for the first time because we want to bring new brands to the Thai market and also look for strap suppliers. We are particularly interested in five to six brands which come from Germany, Switzerland and the UK because of their good designs and high quality. The size of our first order for a new brand is normally 2,500-3,000 pieces. In the Thai market, watches in the price range of US$150-400 tend to be the best sellers. Smart watches, which look like traditional watches and can track steps, heart rate and calories burned, are well-liked by consumers aged 23-40. Mature consumers love chronograph watches with minimalist designs. The Hong Kong fair provides a great opportunity for us to see a great variety of watches.”

“In business for 70 years, Brasport Group has earned a high reputation for making leather straps and small leather goods. Five years ago, we also started to produce rubber straps. Last year, we launched Noomoon, a FKM strap brand that stands for innovation, good quality and good design. Our FKM straps are buckleless, loopless, durable, waterproof, sweatproof, hypoallergenic and odorless and also give users a supple and soft feel. Since our FKM straps are relatively new in the market, they have attracted a lot of interest from brand owners and distributors at this year’s Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair. We have made new contacts with buyers from Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Russia and the Philippines. Some Asian buyers have bought our samples and we expect new orders to come soon.”

“Founded in 1965, Weisz Group is exhibiting two brands, namely Danish Design and Jacob Jensen at Salon de TE for the first time. The two brands are now sold in 40 countries and regions. Salon de TE is the best place for us to meet with quality buyers who are looking for brandname watches. On the first two days of the fair, we have found three potential distributors from Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. We have also talked to existing distributors from Australia, Bangladesh, the Chinese mainland, India and Sri Lanka and they have placed onsite orders for our latest models. We are very happy with the organisation of the fair. The HKTDC’s business matching team has arranged potential customers to visit our booth. A series of watch parades held at Salon de TE also provides a good opportunity for us to promote our new designs. It’s worth coming back next year.”
