Hear What Buyers Say

“Brighten specialises in the supply of corporate uniforms in Singapore. In business for about 15 years, we provide a wide range of uniforms for different clients including hotels, restaurants, hospitals and schools. I am visiting Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer to find new suppliers offering quality fabrics at better prices. So far, I have established contact with two suppliers from Mainland China including Dongguan Baixin Trappings and Textile Co., Ltd. and Heng Yue Apparel Co., Ltd. Another potential supplier is Hong Kong company Practical Industrial (HK) Ltd who offers some interesting uniforms with eco-friendly fabrics. My colleagues will communicate with them for further discussions to conclude business. I look forward positively about developing cooperation with them. This is a good fair. Everything has been well organised.”
Jenny Huang, Director, Brighten Uniforms Pte Ltd, Singapore
“Z Lifestyle currently operates two fashion stores in the Philippines selling our own designs. Our collections range from women’s casual wear and occasional dresses to swimwear, shoes and accessories under our brand ZOO. Besides domestic customers, our online sales platform serves buyers worldwide. We are visiting Hong Kong Fashion Week this year to source quality fabrics in particular for business development. We create more fashion designs now with own production, thus giving rise to demand for different fabrics such as linen, chiffon and printed fabrics. We’ve found two new suppliers from Mainland China for cotton, chiffon and swimwear fabrics on the first day of exhibition through the business matching service. This fair has a lot on offer and we are still looking for more fabrics suppliers as well as exhibitors offering ready-made clothes and athletic wear. We’ve already spotted several potential sportswear suppliers and will get in touch with them to explore business cooperation. This is a well-organised fair offering a lot of choices to buyers.”

“Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer is a well-established international trade fair for the fashion industry. We are organising an Indian pavilion this year bringing together a total of 18 companies to showcase a great variety of fashion items from ladies’ wear to menswear, children’s wear and accessories. India’s fashion and garment companies take pride in their original design, product quality and the use of fabrics. Our fashion products are well received worldwide. Hong Kong is a business hub for international companies. All kinds of companies gather here to grow business and this fair definitely plays an important role in promoting the fashion industry’s development. Everything looks positive here as our participating companies take the opportunity to meet various international buyers. We are optimistic about the prospect and expect to generate good business through this valuable trading platform.”
Rakesh Kumar Chaudhary, Assistant Director, International Trade Fairs, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, India
“Practical Industrial is a Hong Kong-based company specialising in the production of corporate uniforms. We have been in business for 23 years, supplying various kinds of corporate uniforms for companies in terminal operations, road works and supermarket business in Europe as well as the police force in Australia. Some Hong Kong hospitals and utility companies are also our customers. We are participating in Hong Kong Fashion Week this year to promote our uniforms made of functional and eco-friendly fabrics. Among them is coffee yarn made from recycled coffee grounds with anti-bacteria, anti-odor, fast drying capabilities and UV protection. Uniforms with functional and eco-friendly fabrics are very popular among our European customers. We are promoting these fabrics to more customers through this trading platform. The response has been fairly good. Some buyers from different countries such as Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia have made enquiries for these fabrics and our uniforms. Two Singaporean buyers looking for hospital staff and outdoor uniforms have expressed serious interest in particular. Further talks will be held with them to conclude business. This fair offers a very good platform to extend our presence and explore new markets.”

“The service provided by the HKTDC is getting more and more comprehensive. This year, I experienced the function of e-badge and found that it can benefit both exhibitors and buyers in a way that business discussion is on-going after fair ends via HKTDC Marketplace App. This is a very good support for business. And, I am able to identify new products every year. I discovered a new Japanese brand 3/2WORKS by Toyoshima & Co Ltd (Booth 1E-E18) established in 2018. Its design combines functional workwear with fashionable style. This is an emerging Japanese brand with good potentials which presents the latest fashion trends in Japan.”

“Even as the garment industry worldwide faces challenges that are both inherent to the business and also created by the uncertain trade environment, the 26th Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer enthralled its visitors with variety of displays, forums and networking opportunities. The first day of the show saw about 1,000 exhibitors from 12 countries/regions gearing up for serious discussions and the second day is already busy and buzzing with activities. Buyers can be found talking orders, as they did their product sourcing yesterday and are ready to get down to business.

A new label from a young South Korean Designer – Coett (Booth 1D-B06) has been receiving good reviews. The collection is young, vibrant and very ‘today’. Soohyun Cho, the founder and designer of the label, is happy with being part of such a vibrant fair.

For Wanida Khunpromketsara, Sales and Marketing Manager, Homrak (Booth 1C-C22J) from Thailand, said the event has been an opportunity to present eco-friendly indigo colour in various women’s and menswear garments. The presentation was well appreciated and with the retailers all over the world looking for more sustainable solutions. Wanida is very hopeful of making some very important connections during the 4-day event.

Coase Yeung of Triple Force Garment Co Ltd (Booth 1D-B17) from Hong Kong who works in workwear and corporate clothing explained that the biggest challenge is to keep pace with performance-related requirements of various industries for its workwear design. Coase has received good buyers and is positive to go home with many new inquiries.

Expressing satisfaction at the way the 26th edition of HKFW is playing out, Byron Lee, Senior Exhibitions Manager, Exhibitions Department of the HKTDC said, “We are already a very well established sourcing show, yet for us to keep re-inventing and updating the show to make the experience better every season is a challenge. New element is added regularly and the use of technology to make the event more responsive is a direction. And of course, encouraging more discussion and action on sustainability is a commitment.”
