“This is one of the biggest electronics fairs in Asia that I have visited and there are many activities running in parallel.
At the Startup Zone, there are some health/wellness startups that caught my eye. They are Ambi, Marvoto and Aurai. Ambi is world’s first AI powered air conditioner controller. Marvoto is hardware and app focusing on hand-held 3D ultrasound application. It provides individuals a much easier way to scan and check the inside body at home. Aurai is water-propelled eye massager with cool and warm compresses that helps relieving unpleasant conditions from digital eye strain.
The Media Pitch day co-organised by Letstartup.hk x Underdogs is amazing. We have seen many pitching events inviting Venture Capital to be the judges but for this time all judges are from media side, so this is the good opportunity for all startups to generate more exposure with international journalists and get the feedback directly to improve their products.”

 “Established two years ago, our company is exhibiting in the Startup Zone at the Autumn Electronics Fair for the first time to showcase the prototype of our Aspara-branded hydroponic smart grower. This smart grower allows people to grow any vegetables anywhere, anytime. It has incorporated three patent-pending technologies, including a LED grow light system, automatic watering system, and sensor and control system. We also offer seed capsules, so people only need to add water and start growing vegetables. The dedicated app can monitor the smart grower. So far, we have made more than 100 new contacts from Europe and the US. We expect the number of new contacts to exceed 500. Many buyers are interested in this smart grower and consider buying it. The Startup zone provides a cost-effective platform for us to introduce this new product. In addition, we have the chance to take part in different programmes such as Media Pitch Day, media breakfast meeting and Smart Startup Launch, helping us to increase our exposure.”

 “To be launched in January 2019, Headsup is a module that fits into any helmet and makes it smart and connected. Headsup has five distinct features including GPS navigation, music entertainment, group chat, smart assistant for providing important information to riders, and rear lighting for ensuring night safety. To look for investors and distributors, we are exhibiting this new product at the Startup zone. Startups can’t afford a big booth and the Startup zone provides an economical means for us to introduce this new product to international buyers. The zone has attracted a lot of people looking for startups especially hardware companies. We have met with large distributors from Australia, Chile, the Philippines and the US who are keen to take our products to their markets. More than 70 buyers have already placed trial orders. We expect that we can make 300 new contacts through the four-day fair.”

This is my first time visiting the Autumn Electronics Fair.  “The trend of advanced drive assistance systems (ADAS) is growing fast, providing added fuel to demand for radars, Lidars, cameras and ultrasonic sensors. With government initiatives and increasing awareness of the new generation consumers, ADAS is being upgraded continuously to meet safety concerns and customers’ needs. Sensor fusion technology will certainly improve the stability of ADAS. All kinds of senor data from road sensors and vehicle sensors can be consolidated to control the vehicle’s steering, braking and throttling. At the same time, the system provides audio and visual information through augmented reality Head Up Display (AR-HUD) to help drivers make the right decision. This will combine with the technology of Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) to create a new way of Human Machine Interface (HMI), making driving more comfortable, fun and safe. By integrated smart sensors with ADAS and software solutions, the driving experience will be very different while automated driving will be a step closer to reality.”

 “I am really excited to share ideas at the Forum here and pursue cooperation with your business. Blockchain technology is a major driver to reshape the way we interact with each other. A ledger with information, it provides a secure and transparent execution environment within the blockchain network where information is immutable, thus ensuring trust in the consensus algorithm. Blockchain can be integrated perfectly with sensors generating data and will facilitate Smart City initiatives with enhanced reliability in digital identity. A growing number of business corporations are exploring to use blockchain technology to ensure trusted data storage and improve operational efficiency. About 74% of major companies across seven countries are shifting their momentum to blockchain technology. Blockchain can create crypto token whereas companies may launch digital currency that serves as loyalty points to enrich customer experience. It will be used for financial transactions and beyond while enabling smart contracts and Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs). Blockchain is definitely here to stay and growth, bringing trust in data transactions.”
