Vinitaly Pavilion's Opening

JETRO Pavilion's Opening

What our Exhibitor has to Say

“Peru is making a debut with a national pavilion at the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair. Two wine and spirit companies are here with us showcasing red wines and in particular the national Peruvian spirit pisco. We hope to introduce the versatility of pisco in the making of cocktails through the fair to increase our exports to Asian markets. This is a very vibrant fair with a lot of actions. The atmosphere is vibrant and we are positive about generating new business here. We expect our exhibition to be a successful showcase that will help our companies to familiarise with the Asian markets and secure customers. Our debut marks a good start. We anticipate to achieve good results and expand our pavilion in the future.”
Erick Aponte (second from left), Trade Commissioner, Trade Commission of Peru in Hong Kong
“Italian wines are making a strong presence through the Vinitaly Pavilion at Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair again this year. More than 100 companies have gathered here to showcase a wide range of quality wines from different parts of Italy. This year also sees the debut of a dedicated olive oil section at our pavilion to raise the awareness of extra virgin olive oils that form a major ingredient in Mediterranean fine dining. The new section features some award-winning olive oils from Italy as well as Spain and South Africa from the international olive oil competition Sol d’Oro. The Hong Kong fair always serves as a good platform to better understand the latest development of the wine market in Asia Pacific. More importantly, we can seize the opportunity to extend the presence of Italian wines and grow business in the Chinese mainland and Asian markets. This fair can really help our companies secure more customers. We look forward to exploring more growth opportunities through the fair this year.”
Giovanni Mantovani, CEO, Veronafiere S.p.A., Italy
“We are organising the Slovenian Pavilion at the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair for the third consecutive year to promote our wines. With a long winemaking history, Slovenia produces a diversity of white wines and red wines. The world’s oldest vine, over 400 years old, still bears fruits in the city of Maribor in our country. Ten Slovenian wineries have joined us this year to showcase their products here. Our product highlights also include pumpkin seed oil and ice-cream made of natural ingredients. This fair has generated strong interest in our wines and attracted high quality buyers and traders over the past two years. It has also facilitated our penetration into the Chinese mainland market. Our pavilion gets bigger and bigger each year and our wineries are keen to exhibit here. This fair has effectively promoted our wine exports and we are positive about the outcome.”
H.E. Dr Aleksandra Pivec (right), Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, Republic of Slovenia

What our Buyer has to Say

“Finewines is a leading importer and distributor of fine wines in Vietnam. We are currently running two wine shops in Ho Chi Minh City with warehouse facilities in Hanoi. I am visiting Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair again this year to find more suppliers. On the first day of exhibition, I have already found two new suppliers from Spain, including Avelino Vegas, for red wines. Last year, we entered into business with French winery Roland Coiffe & Associes. Talks are being conducted with the French company again for more red wines this year. I am also interested in the red wines of an Italian winery from the Piedmont region though their prices are on the high side. I expect to place orders for 300 bottles of red wines from Roland Coiffe and about 30 bottles each from the new Spanish suppliers. The Hong Kong fair features a wide range of fine wines, offering a lot of choices to choose from. I am very satisfied with what I’ve achieved here.”
Huong Tran, Retail Sales Manager, Finewines, Vietnam
“Founded in 2004, IWI is a Miami-based importer of wines and spirits in the United States. We sell different wines and spirits to wholesalers and retailers across the country. At present, we source products mainly from Italy, Spain and France. I also attend various wine fairs in the US, France, Italy, Germany and Spain for sourcing. This is my first-time visit to Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair. It’s a very impressive exhibition with a good cross section of wines and spirits for buyers. So far, I’ve found three new suppliers for red wines including Caldirola and Societa Agricola Fattoria Le Fonti SRL from Italy and Hestan Vineyards from California of the US. We will enter into business with small orders, involving several pallets at the start, and then strengthen our ties progressively with bigger orders. The Sino-US trade war has had no adverse effect on our wine business for the time being. If the trade conflicts last for a longer time, the filtered-through effect on overall economy might affect consumption eventually. But demand for wines and spirits is still very strong and consumers are looking for premium and upscale products. The Hong Kong fair is well organised with a strong turnout of exhibitors and buyers. I expect to find more suppliers over the next two days. I will definitely visit the fair again.”
Hermes Ortiz, President, International Wine Imports (IWI), USA
