“I used to reckon Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer a quality garments’ trade show that focused more on business exchanges of garments/textiles-related products. Yet, I am very surprised to find a diversity of highly creative products from different countries and regions in this year’s edition.

Uni Textile Co Ltd (Booth no.:1B-E03) from Japan produces high quality fabrics for ready-to-wear. The fabric called Jakato has caught my attention with its vibrant colour and detailed tassels on top. Designers can cut flexibly and adjust the length of tassels to present different textures and create the mood they desire for their collections. Yoga wear showcased by Japanese designer Kimio Nishiura under the brand of tejas (Booth no.: 1C-DS57) comes in creative and fun designs. The collection, from tops and yoga pants to different accessories, combines practical function and fun designs in a balanced way. Lastly, I am deeply impressed by the lingerie collection from Pattricia A.Garde Co., Ltd (Booth no.: 1B-F21). While the brand has its origins from Thailand, the collection reflects a strong flavor of European-style lingerie.

I am delighted to discover such ingenious products at Hong Kong Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2018 as well.”
Yoshiko Toda, Reporter, Apparel-web.com (Japan)

“Hong Kong Fashion Week Spring/Summer features a myriad range of fashion and footwear manufacturers and brands. The participating companies and brands all have something unique and exceptional to offer. At the Spring/Summer 2018 edition of the fair, I came across FIT JOY JAPAN, INC. (Booth No. 1C-A19) - a Japan-based footwear company. They make shoes with sheep skin. Their shoes are light-weighted with an extremely comfortable sole. FIT JOY uses materials that combine durability with cushioning properties. With over 20 years of footwear making experience, FIT JOY's lightest model for women weighs less than 150 grams. The shoes are designed in Japan and made in Cambodia. Although the company is targeting middle-aged customers and an aging population, the designs are classy enough to be suitable for even the younger lot. FIT JOY has put on display a great collection and interesting designs.”
Priya Mehta, General Manager, Fibre2Fashion (India)

“With a history of 100 years, Truworths is one of South Africa’s leading fashion retailers with over 700 stores across the country and the rest of Africa. We provide a comprehensive range of fashion apparel and accessories for men, women and children. We’ve also extended to furniture business. This is my first visit to Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer to source new products. I have already found four Chinese mainland suppliers for lingerie and denim items, including China (Dongguan) YiMi Garments Co., Ltd. and Hangzhou Shiny Imp & Exp Co., Ltd. Further talks will be held to strike deals and we normally place orders 800-2,500 pieces each. Today, I will meet some suppliers from India and Sri Lanka for more products while children’s wear is also a key category we would like to source. This is a very good fair with a lot of choices. The business matching meetings proved to be highly useful. Staff are very helpful and the well-defined fairground layout enables efficient sourcing.”
Victoria Caysie Leigh Timcke, Sourcing Coordinator, Truworths Ltd, South Africa
“Keszef Lo Mesàne is operating three retail stores in Budapest of Hungary selling a wide range of footwear, slippers and clothing accessories. This is my first visit to Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer to source more products to enrich our offerings. So far, I’ve found two to three new suppliers from the Chinese mainland for a selection of items like socks, hats and scarves. Two of the suppliers are Yiwu Top Shine Import&Export Co., Ltd. and Shaoxing Evergreen Knitting Company Limited. I will place orders after further negotiation. Sample orders will be made first to ensure everything goes well while normal orders will involve 10,000 to 20,000 pieces each. I will meet more exhibitors today to find interesting items and explore opportunities. This is a very good fair. Everything has been well arranged to enable sourcing effectively.”
Gabor Farago (right), Sales Manager, Keszef Lo Mesàne Ltd., Hungary
“Sein Gay Har is one the largest shopping centre operators in Myanmar. We currently operate eight shopping centres with department stores and supermarkets in Rangoon. We usually source products directly from suppliers in Singapore, Thailand and the Chinese mainland. This is our first visit to Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer find new sourcing opportunities. The fair has a rich variety of interesting items on offer. We are now negotiating with a new supplier from Bangladesh for men’s T shirts and a Chinese mainland supplier for ladies’ blouses and casual wear. We hope to finalise business cooperation within one month. The order for T shirts is expected to involve 7,000 to 10,000 pieces while that for women’s wear will be about 3,000 pieces. This fair can be a new sourcing platform for our future growth. We will visit the exhibition again to find more new ideas and products.”

“Mojo Downunder is one of Australia’s most beloved men’s underwear brands, providing premium and fully-functional underwear with an amazing finish for customers. We’ve extended the scope of business to men’s shirts, hats, bags and socks. Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer offers a good sourcing platform to find new products to enrich our categories. This year, I have already found three potential suppliers from the Chinese mainland for T shirts, underwear and socks. One of them is Shaoxing Evergreen Knitting Company Limited whose socks are of high quality and strong appeal. These suppliers are willing to take orders in small quantity, making it especially attractive to do business with them. Upon successful negotiation, we may start with trial orders for 300 pieces per design. Normal orders are expected to go up to 2,000 pieces per design. This fair has a good mix of exhibitors and products. I will definitely come again to learn about the latest market trends and source new products.”
Adam Rakowski, Founder, Mojo Downunder, Australia

Our solutions can be customised to meet specific requirements to improve efficiency of production lines and data management. This is our first-ever presence at Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer to promote our easily-installed and user-friendly mobile applications. We’ve attracted some serious interest from prospective customers from Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland. Besides fashion-related businesses, a Hong Kong property developer has approached us to explore using our apps for the management of corporate uniform. We have also conducted fruitful exchanges with some companies exhibiting here that gives rise to cooperation opportunities. This is an exciting fair where we’ve met with many industry players while successfully raising our brand’s awareness. We are pleased with the results and HKTDC’s great support in facilitating our promotion and publicity.”

“Itbon Apparel is a USA-based fashion company specialising in the design and production of fashionable collections for young ladies under our own brand of IZURIA. Collections come in fancy designs and prints while special fabrics are used to enrich appeal. Major markets are currently Europe and USA. This is our first-time presence at Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer to promote our brand to more customers. We’ve established initial contact with some potential customers from Korea, Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries. Further discussions will take place to explore business development with the buyers. By exhibiting here, we’ve gained an opportunity to increase our brand’s exposure. That marks a good start for us to find new customers and business partners.”
CK Chan, CEO, Itbon Apparel Inc., USA (Booth no. 1E-A10)
“The Parrot is a contemporary women’s fashion brand in Thailand. In business for four years, we focus on stylish fashion with unique design catering to everyday needs in workplace and afterhours parties. We are running seven boutique shops in Bangkok selling our collections. We’re very pleased to be exhibiting at Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer for the first time to find international customers. The response has been excellent. Besides Asian buyers, we’ve got in touch with customers from Italy, Saudi Arabia and USA. So far, we’ve already secured seven large and small orders. The biggest order was placed by a Saudi Arabian client for 700 pieces in different styles, involving a value in excess of US$40,000. We’re thrilled by the strong interest. This is really an international exhibition with buyers coming from different parts of the world. We enjoy very much the exhibition atmosphere here that enables efficient business negotiations. We anticipate to exhibit again and participate in other HKTDC fashion-oriented fairs to drive our business development.”
Pimsiri Nakswasdi, Owner & Creative Director, The Parrot International Company Limited, Thailand
(Booth no. 1B-E18)
“Yanbu Underwear is world-famous for its diversity of design and good quality. After more than 30 years of development, we’ve developed a strong cluster of businesses specialising in underwear production at Dali in Nanhai District of Foshan City. Over 800 enterprises are now engaged in the supply of quality underwear with their own brands selling products to international customers worldwide. This is our debut at Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer to expand our reach to more international buyers. We’ve brought together 11 major underwear enterprises to showcase various collections here. We’ve generated very positive feedback as a large number of overseas buyers have approached us to explore business opportunities. Hong Kong is really a solid window for our enterprises to grow internationally. This fair serves as a perfect platform to promote our products, raise the profile of Yanbu Underwear and open up new market opportunities. Our enterprises are pleased with the exhibition results. We hope to continue exhibiting here to gain more exposure.”
